Support Services on Different Units

Volunteers visit patients in their rooms on different hospital units. The volunteer’s role is to listen attentively and provide a comforting presence to assist patients and families.

Schedule: Visits on the units are permitted on a daily basis during the day or in the evening. Volunteers determine their availability and their schedule with the volunteer coordinator, but must be available either once per week or once every two weeks.

Support Services in Oncology

This service is oriented towards hope and healing. The volunteer’s role is to be attentive to the comfort of patients receiving chemotherapy treatment, to listen attentively to those accompanying patients in the waiting room and to offer assistance to the nursing staff.

Schedule: The oncology department offers services Monday to Thursday between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm. The schedule for volunteers is from 10 am to 2 pm. Volunteers determine their availability and their schedule with the volunteer coordinator, but must be available either once per week or once every two weeks.
