Volunteer opportunities at La Maison Au Diapason
La Maison Au Diapason offers specialized care and services to terminally ill patients and their families. These services are largely based on the involvement and dedication of volunteers.
Patient Care and Support
Teamed with a nurse, the volunteer’s role is to assist with the care and comfort of patients (baths, mobilizations, mouth care, help with meals, changing linens, laundry, etc.). Volunteers offer attentive listening, companionship and support to patients and families. Volunteers work alongside a nurse or an orderly.
Schedule: One day per week or one day every two weeks (Sunday to Saturday). Possibility of being added to on-call list.
- Day: 8 am to 4 pm
- Evening: 4 pm to 9 pm
Reception
The volunteer’s role is to answer the phone and direct calls, take payments for meals and rentals, welcome and assist visitors, as well as listen and offer empathy to families and visitors in the reception area.
Schedule: One day per week or one day every two weeks (Sunday to Saturday). Possibility of being added to on-call list.
- Day: 9 am to 4 pm
- Evening: 4 pm to 8:30 pm
Kitchen
The volunteer’s role is to assist the cooks in their daily tasks, help with preparing and serving meals, as well as maintain the kitchen and storage areas.
Schedule: One day per week or one day every two weeks (Sunday to Saturday).
- Day: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
- Afternoon/Evening: 2:30 pm to 7 pm
Indoor Maintenance
The volunteer’s role is to carry out small repairs and minor installations inside the building.
Schedule: Volunteers determine their availability and schedule with the Director of Volunteers.
Outdoor Maintenance
The volunteer’s role is to maintain flower beds, trim hedges and bushes, mow the lawn, rake leaves, etc.
